Event.Gives

Event.Gives brings tickets, guest check-in and fundraising payments into one event workflow. Its free-to-create account is useful for exploring the setup, but the 4.5% platform and card fees still need an owner; review the default attendee-payment settings before opening sales.

Honest Limitations

Free is conditional on who pays

The pricing page lists 4.5% platform fees and 3.5%+$0.30 card processing. If coverage is optional and an attendee declines, the organization is responsible.

Default checkout settings deserve review

The FAQ says newly created events default to Attendees pay fees for both platform and card charges. Inspect the resulting checkout amount before publishing.

Support and data scope need a quote

The calculator asks separately about preparation, remote event-day and onsite support and explicitly says its result is not a quote. Confirm support terms and the donor/finance exports you need.

Learning and guest experience are individual

Nailah B.'s March 2023 review praised guest checkout and reduced volunteer payment work. Jenn C.'s February 2023 account liked auction-item setup but needed to learn the system. Both are dated experiences to validate with your own rehearsal.

Hidden Costs to Watch

  • ! Optional attendee fee coverage can leave the organization paying both components.
  • ! Onsite staffing and other support requirements need explicit scope.
  • ! Refund, chargeback, cash-transaction and tax treatment are not established by the headline pricing.

Run a test with an ordinary ticket, a sponsored guest and several auction purchases. Confirm how checkout, payment responsibility and exports behave for each. A guest-friendly event interface still needs to fit the organization’s donor and accounting process.

Use the vendor’s own prices for the comparison, not the competitor table on its marketing page. The simple variable-fee illustration here assumes the organization absorbs charges; a required-attendee checkout can produce different totals and should be checked directly.

The fit assessment follows documented scope. Reviews are dated individual accounts; no hands-on product test or vendor interview is claimed.
