Cuez

Cuez is a strong fit when scripts, timing and media need to remain connected while several production departments edit the show. Start with the rundown requirement, then decide which device automation and prompting modules justify their setup. Older TinkerList reviews show the collaborative workflow’s history; they do not establish the current performance of every Cuez module.

Best For
  • + Producers maintaining scripts and media references with several simultaneous editors
  • + Broadcast-style events needing planned, actual and remaining show timing
  • + Production teams prepared to configure automation against named devices and keep manual overrides
Not For
  • − Buyers assuming the teleprompter and all device automation are included in one basic licence
  • − Small events needing only a simple agenda or speaker countdown
  • − Crews depending on disconnected collaborative editing without a tested fallback
Key Capabilities
✓ Edit scripts and rundowns collaboratively in the browser
✓ Create reusable blocks tailored to a recurring production format
✓ Attach and preview video, audio and graphics within the script
✓ Track planned, actual, back and front timing during production
✓ Keep the crew aligned with the Follow the Cuer view
✓ Search and attach EVS VIA MAP media with its metadata
✓ Add separately scoped Prompter and Automator modules for script display and device control
Honest Limitations

Prompter is a separate module

Although the product page describes prompting as built in, its FAQ explicitly says it is an additional module. Automator adds further control features. Obtain a quote showing each required module and screen/control arrangement.

Connectivity needs a production fallback

The current rundown is cloud based and Prompter explicitly requires an internet connection. Complete offline behaviour is not established here. Rehearse loss of access and decide how the caller and presenter retain a usable script.

Template changes deserve a test

Bram P., a vendor-invited, incentivized Software Advice reviewer in April 2022, reported trouble propagating newly added fields into existing quiz questions. That is a legacy TinkerList account, not a confirmed current Cuez bug; use it to test template changes.

Automation scope is device specific

The EVS integration differentiates media browsing in Rundown from playout control through Automator. Check server versions, supported commands and failure recovery instead of assuming all connected equipment behaves identically.

Hidden Costs to Watch

  • ! Confirm editor and guest allowances, simultaneous productions and storage.
  • ! Budget automation commissioning and rehearsal alongside module licences.
  • ! Presenter displays, jog wheels, Stream Decks and production servers are not assumed included.

Use a short scripted segment containing an inserted clip and a late editorial change. Ask one producer to edit, another to call and a third to watch the presenter display. Confirm which changes propagate automatically and where the operator still makes a deliberate decision.
