Millumin

Millumin is particularly useful when the production must control both when media plays and where it appears. The dashboard and timelines can share work, letting an operator advance a show while prepared compositions handle the detail. Build the evaluation around the actual canvas and cue structure: a flexible media system still needs understandable layers, tested outputs and a clear way to update content.

Honest Limitations

The full editor is Mac only

Millumin V5 requires a supported Mac, with macOS 11 minimum. The separately described MilluNode player supports Windows and macOS in beta; that does not make the main editing environment cross-platform.

Rental begins when purchased

Official terms start the rental clock at purchase. A seven-day licence bought well before rehearsal may expire before the event. Price the entire preparation and performance window, including each simultaneously used computer.

Timeline proxies need rebuilding after changes

The timeline guide allows a pre-rendered proxy to reduce live rendering work. Editing that timeline makes its proxy stale until it is recreated. Assign a check so a late change is not hidden behind an old proxy.

Output scale depends on the rig

The vendor advertises large canvases but explicitly makes computer power the limit. Rehearse the real resolution, layers, effects, live inputs and interfaces together; a nominal maximum is not a tested capacity for your show.

Hidden Costs to Watch

  • ! A second simultaneous show or backup computer requires the appropriate extra seat; do not reuse historical two-seat prices.
  • ! Budget Macs, capture/output devices, media storage and any external commercial software licence.
  • ! Allow time to rebuild timeline proxies and validate media replacements before show day.
